Identity and credit checks for shops and small businesses

A shop owner selling a fridge on credit, or paying a deposit to a new supplier, usually has to go on instinct. RDCPASS gives small businesses the same certified identity checks that large institutions use, paid for from a prepaid wallet. You can confirm who a customer is, look up a supplier in the business registers and see a credit score before you agree to instalments.

  • Customer checks at checkout
  • Suppliers verified by RCCM, ID NAT or NIF
  • Credit sales approved with the customer’s consent

The challenges

No budget for a compliance department

A small business still needs to know its customers and partners, but it cannot pay someone to check documents all day.

Suppliers who are not what they claim

One deposit paid to a company that does not exist, or is not who it says it is, can wipe out months of margin.

Selling on credit is a gamble

With no credit history to look at, merchants either turn down instalment sales or end up chasing unpaid debts.

How RDCPASS helps

01

Customer verification at checkout

Confirm a customer’s certified identity before a high-value sale, a delivery on account or a store-card sign-up. Online, they can sign in with RDCPASS in one step.

02

Supplier and B2B partner checks

Before you pay or deliver, look up a supplier, distributor or wholesale customer by RCCM, ID NAT or NIF and see its officers and beneficial owners.

03

Credit sale approvals

Once the customer consents in the RDCPASS app, you receive a credit score drawn from mobile money, telecom, banking and utility data. Use it to decide on an instalment or buy-now-pay-later sale.

Connects to the channels you already run

Your app, website, branches and back office call RDCPASS through a single integration. The services you choose send back verified answers your staff can act on.

Regulation & compliance

  • A credit score is only produced after the customer gives explicit consent in the RDCPASS app.
  • Each check is logged with its purpose, so you can show how a customer or partner was verified.
  • Each application receives only the data scopes it has been approved for, which helps you meet your data-protection obligations.
  • Identity fraud by customers or fake suppliers can be reported to the national fraud desk through Fraud Reporting.

Frequently asked questions

Is RDCPASS affordable for a small business?+

Yes. On Pay as you go you pay only for the checks you run, from a prepaid wallet topped up by M-Pesa, Orange Money, Airtel Money, card or bank transfer. There is no monthly commitment.

Do we need developers to get started?+

The services are provided through an API, so someone has to integrate them. The sandbox is free, and your web or IT provider can connect it to your store or till.

Can we check a supplier before paying a deposit?+

Yes. KYB Verification confirms the company by RCCM, ID NAT or NIF and returns its officers and beneficial owners, so you know who you are paying.

Does the customer have to agree to a credit check?+

Always. The customer approves each credit request in the RDCPASS app. Without that consent, no score is produced.
