Score applicants who have no bank credit history

Credit Scoring builds a score from a citizen’s payment history in mobile money, telecom, banking and utilities, linked to their certified RDCPASS identity. The citizen approves every request. You get a score with a risk band, a probability of default and the reasons for it.

  • Mobile money, telecom, banking and utility data
  • Consent approved in the RDCPASS app
  • Real-time decisions

Why businesses choose Credit Scoring

1

Lend to people banks cannot score

An applicant with no bank credit history can still be assessed on how they pay for mobile money, airtime and utilities.

2

Answer while the applicant is still there

The score, risk band and probability of default come back while they are in your app or at your counter.

3

Explain every decision

Each score lists the factors behind it. A loan officer can tell an applicant why they were turned down and what would help next time.

How it works

  1. 01

    The citizen approves your request

Their RDCPASS app shows your organization, the credit product and the amount. They approve with a face check.

  2. 02

    You request a score

Your system sends the citizen’s identifier, their consent and the product being assessed.

  3. 03

    We build the score

Verified payment histories from mobile money, telecom, banking and utility providers are combined into one assessment.

  4. 04

    You receive the result

A score, a risk band, a probability of default and the factors behind them, along with the citizen’s basic KYC.

Capabilities

What you receive

For every request the citizen has consented to, RDCPASS returns:

  • A credit score and its risk band, from A to E
  • The probability of default over the next 12 months
  • The factors that most influenced the score, each marked positive or negative
  • The data sources the score was built from
  • How long you may rely on the score, and the citizen’s basic KYC
01

Alternative and financial data

Mobile money activity, how long someone has had their phone number and how they top up, bank and microfinance repayments, electricity and water bills.

02

Risk bands A to E

Scores run from 300 to 850 and each one falls into a band from A to E. Your credit policy can map each band to a decision.

03

Probability of default

The estimated chance the applicant defaults within the next 12 months, adjusted for the amount they are asking for.

04

Reasons behind each score

The main positive and negative factors, such as repayment history, income stability or account age, written in plain language.

05

Consent built in

Ask for consent through the RDCPASS app or at sign-in with Login with RDCPASS. The same consent can be reused for 30 days, for instance to re-score just before disbursement.

06

Pre-approval campaigns

Score up to 10,000 opted-in customers in one request, for example to pre-approve mobile credit limits.

Integration

One integration for sandbox and production

Requests are HTTPS calls with JSON bodies, signed and encrypted. The sandbox returns the same formats as production, so the code you test with is the code you ship.

  1. 1

    Create an application

Sign up, create a sandbox application and select the services and data scopes you need.

  2. 2

    Make your first call

Start from an official SDK or from the samples on the right. Eight languages are covered.

  3. 3

    Go live

After due diligence, replace the sandbox keys with production keys and add your mTLS certificate. The request code stays the same.

Trust & privacy

  • No citizen is scored without their explicit approval, and they can revoke it at any time from the RDCPASS app.
  • Each consent covers one citizen and one application. The score may only be used for the credit decision the citizen agreed to.
  • Only basic KYC is returned. No addresses, documents or other personal data.
  • Production access requires enhanced due diligence. Every request is signed, encrypted end to end and logged for audit.

Pricing

Billed per score.

Basic KYC is included with every score and there are no scope surcharges. Batch items cost less. Requests rejected with an error are never billed, and that includes requests without valid consent.

Frequently asked questions

What if an applicant has never had a bank account?+

They can still be scored from their mobile money, telecom and utility payment histories. Each score shows which sources it is based on.

How does the citizen give consent?+

Either by approving a consent request in the RDCPASS app, or at sign-in with Login with RDCPASS. Both ways, they see who is asking and why before they approve with a face check.

Does the score make the lending decision?+

No, your credit team does. Use the score alongside your own affordability assessment and credit policy, and use the factors to explain a refusal to the applicant.

Can I try it before going live?+

Yes. The sandbox is free and returns the same fields as production, using synthetic test identities.

Building and testing in the sandbox is free. You go live once your business and application have passed due diligence.
